Build a monthly plan you can trust
Choose a starting scenario or enter current quotes for your whole household. Every expense is in Colombian pesos; nothing is sent to a server.
Monthly costs
Arrival and assumptions
Enter non-negative expenses, a rate between 1 and 1,000,000, and a buffer from 0 to 100.
Monthly total including your buffer
No monthly costs entered yet. This is not a zero-cost living estimate.
What does this calculator estimate?
It adds the monthly expenses you enter, applies your chosen contingency percentage and converts the result using the exchange rate you specify. One-time arrival costs are shown separately. It does not estimate market rents, insurance eligibility or the tax you owe.
Start with current written quotes for your city and household. Zero means you have not included a cost; it does not mean the item is free. The illustrative exchange-rate input is an assumption, not a live quote.
How to use the result
Keep all local expenses in Colombian pesos. Include administration charges with housing and use an individual insurance quote. Enter obligations paid elsewhere as their peso equivalent if you want them in the total.
The formula is monthly expenses × (1 + buffer percentage ÷ 100). The US-dollar estimate is that result ÷ pesos per US dollar. First-month cash need adds the one-time amount after the monthly buffer. Taxes, transfer fees or deposits are included only if you enter them.
A budget still has a place attached
Choose a city, then test the ordinary routine your monthly total is meant to support.

Check your weak assumptions
Try a lower number of pesos per dollar to test a stronger peso, and add a realistic arrival allowance. A reserve is not a substitute for insurance, and the result is not evidence that a visa's financial requirements are met.
Inputs stay in the current page and are not submitted to a server or saved when you close it. Use the print button to keep your own copy. Printing can also save a PDF through your browser.
